For the fourth season in a row, two of the country’s premier high school football programs will kick off the season in the 2024 Jerry Jones Classic presented by Whataburger on Saturday, August 31, at 2:00 p.m. CT. Under the lights, and the roof, of Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, the North Crowley Panthers and the Lancaster Tigers clash for the first time in over 20 seasons. The highly anticipated high school football matchup will be broadcast live on TXA21.

North Crowley is fresh off their 6A Division I state semi-final appearance last season. Returning with a senior class showcasing five Division I commits and three more offered by top programs as well. The Panthers are led by North Texas pledge Chris Jimerson Jr. who led the team in passing with 3,092 yards, 40 touchdowns and 3 interceptions. He also rushed for 1,105 yards and 12 touchdowns on the ground.

On the other sideline, Lancaster enters 2024 with a loaded roster and a streak of five straight seasons with at least nine wins. They’ll have Nevada commit Carter Jones behind center after 1,895 passing yards last season. He’ll look for the playmaking ability of future Oklahoma Sooner Emmanuel Choice at the wide receiver position.

There is no bigger way to begin the season than with the best high school football venue in the country hosting two of the most electrifying programs. All proving truth to the popular adage of “Everything is bigger in Texas.”
